Depression Management Programme
This is a three week in-house Programme designed for inpatients and day patients who have been diagnosed with depression. It aims to educate on the causes, varieties and treatments of depression. The programme also aids coping skills with goal-setting and stress management advice. The ethos is to facilitate coping with depression rather than allowing it to beat you!
The Programme is managed by Ms Vanessa Dowling, Clinical Nurse Specialist. There is an additional weekly input by Ms. Sarah Carter, Senior Occupational Therapist, and Dr. Martina Corry, consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in mood disorders. In addition, on a monthly basis there is a session by Ms. Noelle Meehan, Systemic Family Psychologist.
It is four years now since the Depression Programme was started at the Hospital. The content has been revised regularly on the basis of consumer feedback and on the team's own experiences from inputting. Referrals are at present from consultant-led multi-disciplinary teams at St. Patrick's Hospital. Further details are available for any of the above named by contacting them at Hospital.
